YPG Event Intro 2013 from Spike Productions on Vimeo.
Spike likes to work closely with the local community; we recently created films for Youth Commission and Young People Guernsey, who were holding an event to discuss issues young people face in Guernsey.
Shaping future services for young people in Guernsey was an event attended by Government, civil servants, teachers, voluntary organisations, youth workers etc, basically anyone involved with young people in the island.
The objective was to;
Assess the current provision of services for young people in the Bailiwick.
Develop priority actions for the 2014-18 Children and Young People’s Plan.
Promote an effective multi-agency approach in providing support for vulnerable young people.
To get to the heart of the issues and get also picture the people they wanted to help, we were tasked with creating a suite of films to achieve this. As time and filming opportunities were limited we decided to create an opening montage which would remind everyone at the event of the sort of things that are available and get many young people to the fore as they and others like them were the people affected by the outcomes of the day.
We also created a number of short films to be played which showed young people commenting on a range of subjects. This was to ensure their voice was heard and the adults ideas were projected onto the young people rather than hearing their views. The films included young people in schools, voluntary organisations and picked randomly on one of the islands estates to provide input form young people in different environments and from different backgrounds.
